Friday, July 30, 9: I did notice that when I tried to download the hotfix at first it registered my IE8 as 32bit and tried to offer the 32 bit hotfix, but I selected show all fixes and was able to select the 64bit hotfix for download. I don’t know what should happen. The resulting e-mail correctly identified my system as x64 and provided the correct link, installation was a breeze, and now I have my files backed up to my external drive!

Others have had it because they didn’t get the bit version of the hotfix. Tsstcorp cddvdw ts h653n at all the comments from other people and you’ll see that people are experiencing the same problems with external hard disks amongst other devices.
